The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges of robbery and other crimes against the juvenile who stole clothes in a shopping center and also attacked the saleswoman.
According to the indictment, on April 13, 2022, in the early evening of April 13, 2022, in a store in a shopping center in the center of Debrecen, he brought a jacket and three T-shirts into the fitting room with the intention of stealing them, and then tore off the price tags from them, which he hid in his bag. After that, he put on the t-shirts and the jacket under his own coat and was about to leave.
One of the shop assistants – the victim – noticed the theft and asked him to show his bag while still in the shop. The teenage boy did not comply, he left the store, and the saleswoman and a security guard followed him. The victim tried to stop him several times and asked him to go back to the store with him, but the juvenile kept avoiding him. Shortly thereafter, the victim grabbed the defendant’s arm by the coat, and the juvenile hit the victim twice on the face and nose with his left hand in order to keep the stolen clothes.
The security guard prevented further abuse of the victim and then escorted the accused back to the store together with him. In the presence of the arriving police officers, they searched his clothing and found the stolen goods, which were taken back by the store. The young man caused HUF 15,660 in damage with the theft, which was repaid.
As a result of the defendant’s abuse, the victim suffered bruised injuries that healed within 8 days, however, taking into account the injured body parts and the magnitude of the impact, the defendant’s intention was to cause injuries that would heal beyond 8 days.
The case was investigated by the Debrecen Police Department.
