The court sentenced the man who threatened to kill a police officer to a suspended prison sentence – for violence against an official – the Central Investigative Prosecutor’s Office told MTI on Tuesday.

According to the announcement, on January 21, the police took action in a property in a Nyírség settlement against a woman who did not serve the confinement that replaces the non-payment of the violation fine.

During the measure, the father of the woman under investigation was also present in the house, who started yelling at one of the policemen, whom he knew from earlier, objecting to the basis on which he entered the house, and then asked him to leave. The police officer also told the man the reason for their action, and at the same time called on the man to stop what he was doing.

The man did not comply, he continued to shout angrily and insulted the policeman, and asked him to leave while threatening to stab him, cut his throat, kill him, and smash his head. Referring to the police murder in Újbuda, the man also said that if the policeman does not leave the property, “there will be another police murder!”.

The police brought the man to the Debrecen Regional Investigative Prosecutor’s Office, where he was detained and interrogated as a suspect in the crime of violence against an official.

The regional investigative prosecutor’s office brought the man before the Nyírbátor Magistrate’s Court in an accelerated procedure, where the court sentenced him to 1 year and 8 months in prison, the execution of which was suspended for a 4-year probationary period, the prosecutor’s announcement states.
