The University of Debrecen is hosting an interactive open day for those seeking a healthier lifestyle on October 18.

The University’s Sport Diagnostic, Lifestyle, and Therapeutic Center (SET Center) will offer free lectures, assessments, dietary and exercise therapy consultations, and demonstrations of its rehabilitation equipment to support those who have chosen—or are considering—a more active, sporty lifestyle, according to hirek.unideb.hu.

The open day is recommended for anyone interested in living health-conscious. Hobby and recreational athletes can explore services that help them assess their current physical condition, such as body composition or endurance testing, says Sándor Szántó, Medical Director of the SET Center.

Participants can also identify musculoskeletal issues that may not currently cause symptoms but carry a risk of injury during sports. By monitoring these factors, they can understand the benefits of regular exercise and improve their athletic performance. If someone has an acute sports injury or is struggling with overuse damage, treatment may include exercise therapy and equipment-based physiotherapy, such as laser, ultrasound, electrical treatment, or shockwave therapy, the professor explained.

Attendees will also learn essential stretching and foam rolling techniques for injury prevention and can try recovery-enhancing treatments such as the cryosauna or lymphatic massage.

The open day is also aimed at those planning to incorporate regular exercise into their daily lives or considering a lifestyle change. For them, the SET Center offers individual or group exercise therapy programs to prepare for regular recreational sports, complemented by dietary advice or light exercise options, such as running on an anti-gravity treadmill.

SET Center doctors and physiotherapists will give free, informative presentations on topics ranging from the health benefits of exercise and nutrition to the latest exercise therapy methods.

Visitors will have the chance to learn about cutting-edge diagnostic, therapeutic, and training equipment used to support Olympians’ preparation. Children accompanying their parents will also be able to experience the joy of movement through playful activities.

The open day will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 12:00 to 18:00 at the SET Center located in Nagyerdei Stadium.
