Early spring-like, sometimes windy weather is expected in the last week of February, with daytime highs generally above 10 °C, and reaching 12–18 °C over the weekend. At the beginning of the week, there may still be widespread precipitation, including possible thunderstorms, but from Wednesday onward drier and increasingly sunny conditions are expected, according to the forecast from HungaroMet Nonprofit Zrt.
Monday: Clouds will break and decrease from the northwest, then increase again from the evening. Larger areas may see sunshine, especially in the east for a few hours, but rain and showers are expected in the northeastern part of the country. Precipitation will decrease at first, then rise again in the afternoon: scattered showers are possible from the northwest, and thunderstorms may occur in the north. Western and northwestern winds will strengthen, with strong gusts possible near showers. Maximum temperatures will range between 9 and 15 °C.
Tuesday: During the day, clouds will increasingly break from the north, with skies clearing in most places by evening. Scattered showers are possible, mainly in the mountains as sleet or snow showers; in the northeast and east, thunderstorms may occur. Northwesterly to westerly winds will be moderate to occasionally strong. Minimum temperatures generally range from 2 to 7 °C, with near-freezing values in the northeastern border areas. Highs will be around 7 to 14 °C.
Wednesday: Cloud cover will break up, especially in the eastern regions, and fog patches will dissipate, leading to generally sunny weather. Only isolated showers may occur in the northeast. Northwest winds may strengthen slightly in some areas. Minimum temperatures will range from –3 to +2 °C, milder in cloudy areas and colder in frost pockets. Maximum temperatures are expected between 7 and 15 °C.
Thursday: Generally clear and sunny weather is expected after the nighttime fog, haze, or stratiform clouds dissipate. No precipitation is expected. Southeasterly to southerly winds may strengthen in the North Transdanubia region. Nighttime lows will be –6 to +3 °C, with daytime highs between 8 and 16 °C.
Friday: Increasing cloud cover will move in from the northwest and west, but the sun will still shine for several hours after morning fog and haze dissipate. No precipitation is expected. Southerly winds will mostly remain moderate. Temperatures will drop to –6 to +4 °C overnight, with highs of 13–18 °C in the afternoon, slightly cooler in the northeast.
Saturday: Sunshine will dominate most of the country, with occasional clouds in the north and northwest, where light rain or showers are possible. Southerly winds will prevail and may strengthen in some areas. Nighttime lows: –4 to +5 °C; daytime highs: 11–18 °C.
Sunday: Sunshine will prevail along with some cirrus and cumulus clouds. Light rain or showers are possible in the northwest and north. Southerly winds will mostly remain moderate. Minimum temperatures: –3 to +6 °C; highs: 12–18 °C.
