The Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen and Teva Pharmaceutical Works Ltd. have reached a new milestone in their ongoing strategic partnership. A European project is exploring how herbs and spices can improve the health benefits of meat products for both younger and older generations. At the University of Debrecen’s Faculty of Agriculture, researchers are developing innovative food prototypes—including pork-free halal sausages—while also collaborating with international students and companies to bring healthier, more sustainable meat to market.

Thanks to significant organizational, professional, and infrastructural developments in recent years, the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen has become a regional university-level center for patient care — announced Zoltán Szabó, President of the Clinical Center, at a clinical leadership meeting held on Friday.

Zoltán Szilvássy, Rector of the University of Debrecen, met with Diego Morales, Secretary of State of Indiana, to discuss expanding the partnership between the University of Debrecen and higher education institutions in the U.S. state of Indiana. The meeting also covered the university’s new international collaborations and its corporate partnerships.

The University of Debrecen was named Student-Friendly University of the Year at the inaugural Higher Education Awards Gala, where Chancellor Zoltán Bács also received a ministerial special award in recognition of his professional achievements. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, honored Hungarian universities across eight categories.

For the first time this year, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation will present the University of the Year 2025 award in eight categories. The festive awards gala will be held on Thursday evening, May 29, at the Várkert Bazár in Budapest. The event will be broadcast on M5 television from 9 PM.

Thanks to the results of an interdisciplinary research program launched a year and a half ago, a general cooperation agreement between Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Debrecen will soon support research into the history of Hungarians living in Canada. The partnership may also pave the way for additional joint projects.

Hungary’s largest automotive and vehicle industry event, Debrecen Drive, filled the Big Forest (Nagyerdő) with spectacular demonstrations, professional programs, family attractions, and unique vehicles. The three-day event offered perfect programs for all age groups.
